After almost 9 years, Mariah is preparing to leave Washington, D.C. to move back to Los Angeles, California, this summer. Before she leaves, she is participating in the Artist Mother Studio Residency at Rhizome DC, an initiative of Amy Hughes Braden with funding from the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities. A culminating exhibition and performance will be held May 20, 2-5 pm.
During fall 2017 Mariah returned to modern dance, studying with Hayley Cutler and performing with darlingdance company. darlingdance will perform at the Artist Mother Studio Residency culmination on May 20.
With her move pending, Mariah has concluded her year-long meadow project, Backyard Sublime. Throughout its course, this project morphed from an experimental gardening and observation project into a site for performance, movement, and drawing as action.
